Matt looked down at Ruby, his eyes filled with understanding and warmth. He gently squeezed her hand. "You know, Ruby," he began softly, "sometimes when people are mean, it's because they're feeling sad or scared themselves. But that doesn't make it okay for them to hurt others." They walked on, the crunch of leaves under their feet making a comforting sound. Ruby listened as her dad continued, "It's important to be kind and strong, just like you are.

And if you ever feel too upset, you can always talk to me." As they passed through the park, Ruby and Matt spotted a little squirrel struggling to reach an acorn on a high branch. Ruby giggled as she watched the squirrel's antics. "Look, Daddy! He's trying so hard!" she said, her earlier worries momentarily forgotten. Matt smiled, "Why don't we help him out?" Together, they found a long stick, and with a little teamwork, they gently nudged the acorn down to the ground.

The squirrel chattered happily, and Ruby beamed with pride. "See, sometimes a little help from a friend can make all the difference," Matt said. They continued their walk, the sun beginning to set, painting the sky in shades of pink and orange. Ruby felt the warmth of the sun on her face and the love from her dad in her heart. "Daddy, I think I want to try being extra nice to those mean kids," Ruby said thoughtfully.

"Maybe they just need a friend." Matt nodded, "That's a wonderful idea, Ruby. You have a big, kind heart." As they reached home, Ruby felt a sense of peace. Her dad tucked her into bed, and she snuggled under her favorite blanket. "Remember, no matter what happens, you are never alone," Matt whispered as he kissed her forehead. Ruby smiled sleepily, feeling safe and loved.
